Naya Pakistan Project Update

#Govt decides to help plot owners construct houses under the #Apna #Ghar #scheme

As a part of its #Naya Pakistan #Apna Ghar Housing Scheme, the government has decided to first help those people construct their houses who already own plots but cannot afford the building material and labour costs.

#The decision was made following a meeting held a few days back between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the head of a microfinance organisation called the Akhuwat Foundation, Dr Amjad Saqib.

During the meeting, the Akhuwat Foundation head briefed the premier about an uplift project under which the organisation would help those who already own plots but cannot afford the cost of constructing a house. He also offered to provide the government with the data the #Akhuwat Foundation has collected.

Subsequently, the prime minister decided to accept assistance from the #microfinance organisation and ordered the ministry of housing and works to prepare a feasibility report for the project. It will be taken up in the first phase of the government’s Apna Ghar Housing Scheme.

As part of the project, people owning two, three and five-marla plots will be provided funds for the construction of their houses. The estimated cost for each house is expected to be between Rs0.8 million to Rs1 million.

The #Apna Ghar Housing Scheme has been started by the federal government to construct five million houses.

#The application forms for the scheme are available on the website of the National Database and Registration Authority and can be submitted until January 2019.

Standard Form or Scientific Notation

Many measurements involve very large numbers

Example:  speed of light is 300000000 m/s.

This figures can easily b written as:

3.0 x 108  (Correct to 2 significant figures)

This way of writing a numbers is called standard form or scientific notation.

Another example can be the wavelength of violet light which is 0.000038cm.
It can be written as:

3.8 x 10-5 (Correct to 2 significant figure)

So a general rule for all figure in written in standard form or scientific notation is:

     A x 10n , Where 1≤ A ≤ 10 and n is an integer

Important Formulas related to a Circle

    Area of circle = πr2

Perimeter of circle = circumference = 2 πr

      Area of ring = πR2 – πr2

      Length of arc = x0/ 360 × 2 πr

      Area of sector = x0/ 360 × πr2

Perimeter of sector = length of arc + 2 radius

Area of segment = Area of sector – area of triangle

1 revolution (in terms of angle) = 3600

      1 revaluation( as a distance) = circumference= 2 πr

ICS Statistics part 1 chapter 1 Definitions (page 1)

 INTRODUCTION TO THE STATISTICS

History of the statistics:
Statistics is a very old word. It is from the English language. The word Statistics comes from three different languages,

                                                Latin Word                 Status
                                                Italian Word                Statista
                                                German Word             Statistik
All these words mean “The political state”. In early ages the word statistics means “The information useful to the state”.

Observation:
In Statistics observations are the recordings of information in numerical form. For example height of students, height of plants, weight of students etc

Data:
Collection of facts and figures is called data.

Population or Statistical Population:
Population is defined as “ The collection of all individuals which posses some common characteristics. For example height of students, Number of children, Number of fans, etc. The size of population is denoted by “ N ”.

Sample:
Any part of the population is called sample. On the basis of sample study we draw conclusions about the population. The size of sample is denoted by “ n ”.

Parameter:
Any quantity computed from the population is called parameter. Parameters are constants and usually unknown. For example populations mean µ, population variance σ2
 are the parameters.

Statistic:
Any quantity computed from the sample is called statistic. Statistic is variable because it varies from sample to sample. For example sample mean , sample variance S2.

Branches of Statistics:
Statistics may be divided into to two branches:
1.                  Descriptive Statistics

2.            Inferential Statistics

ICS Statistics part 1 chapter 1 Definitions (page 2)

Descriptive Statistics:
It is the branch of statistics which deals with the methods and principles of data collection and their presentation in meaningful form.

Inferential Statistics:
It is the branch of statistics which deals with the methods and procedures of drawing conclusion about the population on the basis of information obtained from the sample.

Variable:
Any characteristic that varies from one individual or an object to another.
Or
Any quantity that can be changed is called variable. For example age, height of students, number of children. A variable is denoted by x, y or z etc.

Constant:
Any quantity that can not be changed is called constant. For example 5, 12, ℮, п, etc.

Quantitative Variable:
If a variable can assume a numerical value is called quantitative variable. For example height, weight, number of students, etc. Quantitative variable is also called attribute of categorical variable.

Qualitative Variable:
If a variable can not assume a numerical value is called qualitative variable. For example eye colour, body colour, sex, intelligence, honesty, etc.

Types of Quantitative variable:
                                      It has two main types:
1.                              Discrete Variable
2.                              Continuous Variable

Discrete Variable:
A variable is called discrete if it can take values in whole numbers. A discrete variable represents countable data. For example number of children in a family, number of fans, etc.

Continuous Variable:
A variable is called continuous if it can take all possible values within an interval. A continuous variable represents measurable data. For example height and weight of students, temperature, etc.
